TEACHER EDUCATION PROGRAMS
Bob Miyamoto, Director
Teacher Education Programs, a department under Teacher Support Servides, assists K-12 beginning teachers, experienced teachers, and school site administrators to ensure beginning teacher success and retention. The programs provide the essential support, resources and collegial planning required for new teacher classroom effectiveness, enhanced teaching strategies for students from diverse backgrounds, focused professional growth, and increased awareness of teaching as a profession.
The Ventura County BTSA Induction (BTSA/IC) program is administered through Teacher Education Program and has been approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) to recommend holders of Preliminary Multiple and Single Subject credentials for a Clear Credential. In addition, there are specially-designed programs to meet the different needs of new teachers who require professioinal development and support, who teach in a special education setting or are teaching in a vocational or adult education classroom.
The program is a countywide consortium between the Ventura County Office of Education, local school districts and universities, including: Azusa Pacific University, California Lutheran University, Cal State University Northridge, Cal State University Channel Islands, National University and University of LaVerne.
