VENTURA COUNTY DESIGNATED
SUBJECTS CREDENTIAL PROGRAM

Designated Subjects Credentials authorize teaching or service in technical, trade, or vocational classes or in classes organized primarily for adults such as Adult Education, Regional Occupation Programs (ROP), and Vocational Education classes.

The Ventura County Designated Subjects Credential program is a CCTC (California Commission on Teacher Credentialing) approved Local Education Agency (LEA) for Adult and Vocational Education. Services that we provide are: 

  • Evaluation, preparation and authorized LEA recommendation of credential application packets for adult education and vocational education teaching credentials for processing through the CCTC.* 
  • Individual counseling and advisement services provided by TSS staff experienced in credentialing.* 
  • Individual transcript and work experience evaluations by a TSS Academic Advisor. * 
  • DSC Level I and Level II Adult and Vocational Ed Program consisting of multiple instructional formats that provide: classroom instruction, on-line study, and self-paced study.
  • Affordable DSC Adult and Vocational Ed Programs – Each course module is separately priced to "pay as you go" and conveniently located in Camarillo, CA. with free parking available.
  • Special grant funding available for eligible candidates to pay for program. For eligibility requirements and application packet, see "Ventura County BTSA/DSC Grant Application" under "Links".
  • Quality assurance – All courses taught by experienced credentialed instructors with professional experience in the field of vocational and adult education.
  • Support and mentoring provided by a trained peer support provider.

* A one-time $75.00 Advisement fee required.

  • DSC Portfolio A (Year 1): due 1/23/2010
  • DSC Portfolio C (Year 2): due 2/6/2010

Instructions for portfolio submission is available in the Participant's Handbook, Chapter 3. A copy of the handbook is available for download/viewing on the MyPDC website - click "Resources" on the main menu, then "Documents and Forms", then "DSC (CTE and Adult Ed) General Forms".

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please remember to email academicadvise@vcoe.org 
to let us know your portfolio has been submitted! This will prevent delays in the processsing and review of your portfolio.
