Eight Title I Academic Achieving Schools Named in Ventura County

Eight Ventura County elementary schools have been named by the California Department of Education as Title I Academic Achieving Schools. This distinction is given only to schools receiving federal Title I funds that aid in meeting the educational needs of students living at or below the poverty level. The schools being honored are:
 

Brookside Elementary School Oak Park Unified School District
La Mariposa School Pleasant Valley School District
Ladera Elementary School Conejo Valley Unified School District
Laguna Vista School Ocean View School District
Maple Elementary School Conejo Valley Unified School District
Oak Hills Elementary School Oak Park Unified School District
Red Oak Elementary School Oak Park Unified School District
Somis Elementary School Somis Union School District


These schools were also recognized as Gold Ribbon Schools last month. The 2016 Elementary Gold Ribbon Schools as well as the 2016 Exemplary Program recipients, Title I Academic Achieving Schools, 2016 Green Ribbon Schools, 2016 Civic Learning Award Schools, and the National Blue Ribbon Schools from 2015 will be honored in May and June during regional ceremonies held in Santa Clara, Anaheim, Los Angeles, Visalia, and Sacramento.
