Ventura County BTSA/IC
Special Education Program

The BTSAŸIC Special Education Program offers professional development beyond the university Teacher Preparation Program and tailored to special education needs. This program is designed for Preliminary Education Specialist Level 1 credential holders.

Features of the program include:

  • Professional development individually tailored to the unique needs of special education teachers provided through classes;
  • Support and Mentoring from a trained, peer Support Provider;
  • Development of an Investigation of Professional Practice (IPP) and Individual Induction Plans (IIPs);
  • University coursework credit available for salary credit (dependent on your employing school district's policy); and
  • Credit toward a University’s Level 2 Special Education Induction Program

BTSA Survey Now Open!
Completion of the online BTSA State Survey is a requirement toward completion of the BTSA Program. Survey deadline is May 12, 2010.

Request enrollment in BTSA SPED Sessions
Don't forget to enroll in your choice of the BTSA Special Ed sessions through the Course Catalog in the MyPDC website!

Two dates for each special ed session will be offered. Please login to the MyPDC website (see hyperlink under "Links" on this page) to request enrollment. Participants are required to attend:
 
Year 1: Classes 1 through 5
Year 2: Classes 6 through 10

California Lutheran Units
Units for the 2008-2009 school year will not be posted by CLU until after July 15, 2009. Please do not request your official transcripts from CLU until after this date - Thank you.

Official transcripts must be requested by you in writing. The BTSA Program cannot request transcripts as they are confidential records and will only be released at the request of the student. I
nstructions for ordering transcripts are available on the CLU Transcript Requests website. Please reference the following course numbers when ordering your transcript:
  • Year 1 participants - EDUC 812A (3 units total)
  • Year 2 participants - EDUC 812B (2 units total)

  Makeups for Special Ed Sessions   Minimize

If you need to makeup a BTSA Special Ed class, you can substitute any of the following classes from the General Ed BTSA Program:

Year 1: Class 2A, 2B, 3, 4 or 5
Year 2: Class 7, 8B, 9 and 11a or 11b
