AVID's Mission is to close
the acheievement gap
by preparing all students
for college readiness and success
in a global society

AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) prepares students so they can qualify for a four-year university study. With a proven track record in bringing out the best in students grades 4-12 and in closing the achievement gap, AVID targets students in the academic middle--B, C, and even D students--who want to go to college and are willing to work hard. These are students who are capable of completing rigorous curriculum but are falling short of their potential. Typically, AVID students will be the first in their families to attend college; many are from disadvantaged families. AVID pulls these students out of unchallenging courses and puts them on the college track, providing acceleration instead of remediation.
