Pamela Cohen
"DANCEPLAY"
For over 25 years, Pamela Cohen has provided dance instruction for youth and adults at Oxnard College and several local recreation departments. She has also served as a director and choreographer of the City of San Buenaventura Cultural Affairs Children's Dance Theater Program. the director and choreographer of the City of San Buenaventura Dept. of Cultural Affairs Children's Dance Theater Program. She is also a serious artist who has trained and performed with several ballet and modern troupes, as well as having received the Teacher of the Year Award from Oxnard College in 1985, the Celebration of the Arts Award for dance from City of Oxnard in 1992, and the Excellence in Teaching award from the City of Ventura in 1992 & 2000.
She has designed an eight-week program that will introduce several forms of dance including tap, ballet, jazz and creative dance. Students will learn about interpretive dance in a playful setting and will also work together to form their own dances to be presented on the final day of class.
Space/Materials required: Will need a cafetorium or other large area free of desks and chairs. Children should be told to wear loose clothing and close -toed shoes. Artist will supply sound system and remaining materials.
