Alina Cenal "STORYTELLING AND THEATRE ARTS"
After years of teaching, Alina continues to be amazed watching kids come alive with their needs to "act out". Give them some structure, freedom, a few ideas and away they go. It is especially rewarding observing the shy ones find "their voice". Storytelling is a language art. Something clicks in the child's mind that now it is safe to play act. In an environment that is non-judgmental and fun, students will begin to trust their instincts through the use of theater games, improvisations, storytelling and dance movements. Their creative imaginations flourish as their bodies and voices become more effective communication tools. Students and teachers will learn to make any story come alive. Many of the games can be incorporated into other aspects of the school curriculum for hands-on learning. A performance of their work in progress can be arranged with minimal costumes from "stuff" the students can find around the home or school.
As a native Spanish speaker, Alina is able to teach bilingually. She was a dancer for 13 years and for the last 11 years she has been working as an actress. As a member of WE TELL STORIES and her affiliation with the Music Center Educational Division, she has the opportunity of working with thousands of school children each year.
