In 2005, Martha Hernandez joined the county as Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Continuous Improvement. In her roles, she provides services to county districts and schools to improve student academic achievement. Because of her experience and knowledge in the area of English learners she is charged with facilitating monthly bilingual directors meetings and serving as county liaison to the Bilingual Coordinators Network. In addition, she is the Ventura County of Education representative for the Promise Initiative, a six county collaboration focused on research and promising practices for English learners. She plays a critical role in the curriculum analysis evaluation and report process. Ms. Hernandez will assist low performing schools and districts by providing Title lll assistance, leadership coaching, school leadership team training and coordination of follow-up support.
