The items listed below must be submitted with your application in order to be considered for a Certificated position. Upon receipt of these items, your application will be considered for the position you are applying for.
- Completed Certificated Application
- Resume
- A copy of your Credential (front and back) or a an electronic verification (email) from the Commission that your recommendation to the credential program has been accepted.
- Three letter of reference (Letters of reference should be less than two years old)
- A one-page letter of introduction telling us why you feel qualified for this position and what you have to offer to the Ventura County Office of Education.
Your application will be considered INCOMPLETE if the above materials are not received by the final filing date. The entire application packet becomes the property of the Ventura County Office of Education and will be considered for this position only. VCOE will not return application materials. Applicants are responsible for making copies of all materials and bears the sole responsibility for ensuring that the application packet is comleted and submitted.
The letter of introduction may be addressed to the Director of Human Resources.

The acceptance of your application depends on whether you clearly demonstrate that you meet the MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS of the position. Based upon a review of applications and supporting information the candidates most qualified will be selected for an interview with a selection panel.
Any attempt to directly contact the Superintendent with the intent of influencing the selection process will be considered a breach of professional ethics and disqualify the applicant from further consideration.

Late applications and incomplete application packets will be disqualified. The applicant is responsible for assuring that a mailed application is received in the Human Resources Office by the filing deadline. Do not send application to or contact the hiring department; inquiries are to be directed to the Human Resources Office only.
TIPS FOR COMPLETING YOUR APPLICATION
Include all EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION as required by the application. It will be necessary for candidate to list their past employment including each job title. Candidates will be required to complete the entire application "see resume" will not be accepted. Also, specify the dates served on each job, the total years and months spent in each position, the salary received, and the reason for leaving the position. Any specific course work or certifications should be clearly indicated on the application. If necessary, attach additional sheets. Be sure to sign your application.
The MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS for each position are noted in the job announcement. YOUR APPLICATION WILL BE ACCEPTED ONLY IF IT COMPLETELY FILLED OUT AND CLEARLY INDICATES THAT THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION ARE MET. It is your responsibility to assure that your application contains sufficient detail for us to determine your qualifications. Your completed application is part of the examination process. The information you give will be subject to review and verification.
FINGERPRINTS
Having a RECORD OF CRIMINAL CONVICTIONS will not necessarily disqualify you from a position with the Ventura County Office of Education. However, false information or incomplete answers may result in rejection of your application or dismissal from employment. Fingerprints will be taken and checked through the California Department of Justice. No individual shall be allowed to begin employment until fingerprints are cleared.
REFERENCE CHECKS
Reference checks will be conducted on all applicants who are being considered for a position with the Ventura County Office of Education. A signed application gives authorization to the Ventura County Office of Education to contact your previous or current employers regarding your job performance.
