Instruction is based on the functional skills curriculum, which includes:
- self-care / independent living
- recreation / leisure
- community access / motor skills
- vocational
- communication
- social / emotional, and
- functional academics
Academics are addressed within these domains with the purpose that students learn functional skills which are practical and maximize their independence in the future. California core curriculum is taught in the classroom or through attendance in regular education classes. Communication and social skills are emphasized during interactions with peers and staff in both a formal and informal manner. All of our students attend assemblies and special events during the school day. Community access and vocational skills are taught on and off campus.
