School Calendar

Instruction is based upon seven curricular domains: domestic, vocational, recreation / leisure, community access / motor skills, communication, social-emotional and functional academics.  Academics, which are Standards based, are addressed within these domains so that students learn functional skills that will maximize future independence.

California core curriculum is taught in the classroom and  a  functional mobility component to the curriculum  (M.O.V.E.) is available for students with physical disabilities to develop the skills of sitting, standing, and walking while participating in their school activities. Occupational and physical therapists from the Conejo Medical Therapy Unit provide support for this aspect of the curriculum.  All activities are designed to increase independence and communication.  Opportunities for interaction with non-handicapped peers are available during assemblies, lunch, and with peer tutors who work in the classroom.  Community access activities include city bus or walking trips to the Oaks Mall, local library, grocery stores, restaurants, and area shops.
