The Student Services Branch is comprised of all student services programs operated by the Ventura County Office of Education including Special Education, Court and Community Schools, the Regional Occupational Program (ROP), Migrant Education, Homeless and Foster Youth Programs, CalSAFE, and Student Competitions.

Career and Technical Education
This department is comprised of the Regional Occupational Program (ROP). Through the ROP over 3,700 high school juniors and seniors and a limited number of adults are trained for entry-level jobs in 31 different careers.  read more ...

Court and Community Schools

The two schools that form Ventura County's Juvenile Court and Community Schools  (JCCS) are Providence, and Gateway Community. The schools provide educational options to diverse student populations referred by local school districts, probation, and social services or incarcerated in the county's juvenile detention facility. The goal is to ensure that students have equal access to a quality, standards-driven educational program that strengthens academic skills while encouraging life-long learning and personal development.

Special Education

The primary functions of the Department of Special Education is to provide the following services: Special Day Classes, Resource Specialist services to incarcerated youth; Support services to special education and services to five small school districts in the county.

Special Education Transportation Contract and Administration Department transports over 700 special education students daily throughout Ventura County from their home to a either a VCOE Special Education Program or a SELPA Interdistrict program.

SELPA (Special Education Local Plan Area) office is responsible for the implementation of the Ventura County Special Education Local Plan, and a for insuring a free appropriate public education to all students with identified disabilities.

Special Populations Educational Support

This department is comprised of the Migrant Education Program, the Ventura Countywide Foster Youth Program, Homeless Education Program and the Cal-SAFE program.Staff development, educational materials, parent involvement and supplementary instruction are offered through the various programs to eligible students. Our programs support unique populations with special educational needs.

Student Competitions and Fundraising

This department is comprised of  the Ventura County Science Fair, Ventura County Mock Trial and the Ventura County Academic Decathlon. These educational experiences encourage and recognize our exceptionally talented young people in their pursuit of academic excellence.

VCOE ParentConnect Access
The Ventura County Office of Education, Technology Services, recently implemented access to the Zangle ParentConnect system for parents of students that attend Gateway, Special Education sites, and ROP classes.  Included in the software resource are various pdf documents that provide information for parents to review attendance, grades, demographic, test history and additional information maintained by the district.
