Welcome to Comprehensive Health
& Prevention Programs

 



Comprehensive Health & Prevention Programs supports student achievement through a safe and healthy school environment.  The department provides leadership, consultation and technical assistance to school districts in the general areas of:

  • Hearing Screening and Audiology Services
  • Coordinated School Health Programs
  • School Health Services
  • School Nursing
  • Safe/Drug Free Schools
  • Safe School Planning
  • Tobacco Use Prevention Education
  • Health Literacy and Youth Development
  • Physical Fitness and Healthy Life-style Choices

 

School districts and local schools are encouraged to use the services of this department as they plan, develop and implement programs that are designed to assist in student health and well-being. In part, services and programs include:

  • High quality staff development opportunities
  • Regularly scheduled job-alike professionals’ meetings
  • Consultation with school districts
  • Partnerships and collaboration with Ventura County Public Health, Ventura County Behavioral Health and other community agencies
  • Direct health services to small school districts
  • Library resource materials
  • Youth development and substance abuse prevention programs
