Join Us in Supporting Ventura County Students!

We invite you to make a meaningful impact on students across Ventura County by volunteering as an interview judge, speech judge, or Knowledge Bowl proctor for high school students. Your participation provides students with a unique opportunity to take an important step toward future success by practicing real-world skills and receiving valuable feedback from experienced community members. 

No specific experience or background is required, however it is best if volunteers feel comfortable using technology. All volunteers will receive training before the event to ensure they feel prepared and supported. Complimentary breakfast and lunch will also be provided.

Volunteer Descriptions

  • Interview Judge: Responsibilities include interviewing students (similar to a job interview) with one to two community members and evaluating their answers using the guidelines and scoring forms provided.
  • Speech Judge: Responsibilities include listening to student speeches and evaluating them with one to two community members using the guidelines and scoring forms provided.
  • Knowledge Bowl Proctor: Responsibilities include monitoring a team of students in a lively competitive event in a gymnasium; verifying student participation; distributing test materials; and entering student answers into an online scoring form using a provided laptop.

Volunteers should be comfortable walking moderate distances between event locations, as mobile transportation will not be available.
