Instruction is based on the functional skills curriculum, which includes:

• self-care / independent living
• recreation / leisure
• community access / motor skills
• vocational
• communication
• social / emotional, and
• functional academics

Special emphasis is placed on job training, independent living, and community-based instruction, including public transportation and accessing Ventura College.  Academics are addressed within the preceding domains with the purpose that students learn functional skills which are practical and maximize their independence in the future.
