The Ventura County Office of Education, in collaboration with the Ventura County Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA), operates seven special classrooms for students on the autism spectrum at Triton Academy in Camarillo.
All classrooms are structured to include multiple grade levels including upper elementary, middle school, and high school level. At this time the youngest grade level is third (3rd) grade while the oldest is twelfth (12th) grade.
All classrooms at Triton Academy implement evidence-based educational interventions for students with autism including TEACCH, a structured educational methodology, Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT), a naturalistic instructional approach, Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), sensory mediation strategies, speech and language therapy, and social skills instruction.
Triton Academy places a high priotity on continued training and development of all in these evidence-based practices and participates. All team members participate in regularly scheduled team collaboration meetings to refine and strengthen their skills in teaching students with autism.
