Dr. Charles Weis (Chuck to his friends) was born in 1950 in Santa Monica, and raised in the San Fernando Valley community of Granada Hills.  Dr. Weis has lived in the Ventura County communities of Fillmore, Ventura, Moorpark, and Oxnard.

Dr. Weis has three children, his eldest son is a graduate of San Diego State University, his youngest son currently attends San Diego State University, and his daughter attends a local public high school. His wife, Patricia Walsh, has worked as a teacher, and school and district administrator in both Kern and Ventura Counties.  Dr. Weis earned a Bachelors Degree at UCLA, Masters Degree at California State University, Northridge, and Ph.D. at University of California at Santa Barbara. 

In January 1993, Dr. Weis was appointed Ventura County Superintendent of Schools.  In June 1994, Dr. Weis was elected to his first four-year term as Ventura County Superintendent of Schools.
