Phoenix program, Los Nogales, is designed for elementary special education students with histories of emotional and/or behavioral problems which have adversely affected their educational progress.
This program is jointly administered and staffed by the Ventura County Office of Education and Ventura County Behavioral Health.
Students undertake a course of study in academic areas in the State Content Standards. The program is designed to prepare students to return to less restrictive schools closer to their neighborhoods. An intensive effort is made to help students acquire skills necessary to accomplish this goal. In general, students, grades K-5, remain in this program for 9 to 12 months.
