Countywide Robotics Competition Coming to Ventura this Saturday
Media Invited to Cover the Excitement as Robots Compete


The fun and excitement of student-built robots going head-to-head in competition comes to Ventura County on Saturday, October 27. The Ventura County Office of Education is sponsoring a VEX Robotics competition for middle and high school students from across the county. The competition is open to the public and members of the media are invited to cover the event. A live video stream of the competition will be broadcast on October 27 from 9:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at https://youtu.be/r3TxpYhMNq8.

WHEN:  Saturday, October 27, 2018

7:30 AM Doors Open

8:00 AM Team Registration and Inspections Begin

9:00 AM Driver Meeting

9:30 AM Qualification Matches Begin

Noon - 1:00 PM Lunch

3:00 PM Alliance Selection and Championship Matches

4:00 PM Awards

5:30 PM Doors Close

There are 24 teams and more than 150 students participating in the competition, which is now in its fourth year. Students, with guidance from their teachers and mentors, have built innovative robots designed to score the most points possible in qualification matches, elimination matches and skills challenges. In addition to having a great time and building amazing robots, through their participation in the competition and their work within their team, students will learn many academic and life skills.
