VCOE offers the following resources to help families and educators respond to local emergencies and help students cope with disturbing events.
Local schools and school districts use electronic notification systems to communicate with families by text message, email, or phone. These systems are a critical way to stay informed during school emergencies. If you're not already receiving notifications from your student's school, contact your school office to sign up.
Ventura County utilizes a state-of-the-art emergency notification system to deliver time-sensitive emergency alerts in English and Spanish to areas within Ventura County where there is a threat to health and safety. Sign up at www.readyventuracounty.org/vc-alert.
The Ventura County Sheriff's Office and some local police departments provide emergency notifications using a platform called Nixle. You can sign up to receive them at local.nixle.com.
