On behalf the Ventura County Office of Education and Dorothy Boswell School faculty and staff, I would like to welcome you to the 2019-2020 school year. We are pleased that you have taken the time to visit our website. My name is Aran Burke and I serve as the Special Education Principal for West County VCOE Special Education Programs at Dorothy Boswell School, Ojai TEAMS, Ventura High School, and Balboa Middle School. I am extremely proud and thankful to be working with such an exceptional group of students, families, and staff members.
The Ventura County Office of Education operates seven post-secondary classrooms at Dorothy Boswell School in the city of Ventura. The post-secondary site serves students, ages 18-22, with mulitple abilities from surrounding school districts. Dorothy Boswell School provides specialized academic programming and support services for students in the areas of career and vocational training, independent living community access, recreation and leisure, mobility, social-emotional growth and development, and functional academics. Our students benefit from a research-based curriculum, Ventura Community College EAC courses, Gold Coast Transit travel training, Department of Rehabilitation vocational training, community job training sites, and on-site enrichment courses and clubs. As an adult learning community, we believe that collaboration between student, family, school, and community stake holders leads to positive student and adult outcomes.
We thank you for visiting our website and hopefully you have gained additional insight about our amazing school. My door is always open, and I welcome your comments, suggestions, and ideas. Additionally, school tours are available by appointment throughout the school year. Please contact the Boswell office at (805) 289-3388 for more information.
