VCOE Helps Local Students Attend Navy's STEM Summer Camp
Media Coverage Invited Starting June 24

The Ventura County Office of Education (VCOE) has secured scholarships that will allow local students to participate in a unique summer camp being held at Naval Base Ventura County. The STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) Construction Camp will host 40 highly qualified students from across the United States beginning on June 24. Ten of those students are from various Ventura County high school, and they’ll be able to attend thanks to generous donations from VCOE’s community partners.

The students will engage in hands-on engineering and construction activities under the mentorship and supervision of base personnel and industry professionals. These activities include touring the Seabee Museum, designing and racing cardboard boats, and participating in a cookout at Pt. Mugu Beach. Additional information is in the attached document.

Members of the media who would like to visit the base to do stories on the camp should contact Sarah MacMillan, NAVFAC EXWC Public Affairs Analyst at sarah.macmillan.ctr@navy.mil or (805) 982-4395.
