Overnight Computer Coding Event Coming to Ventura County

High school students in Ventura County will have the opportunity to learn computer coding and put their creativity to work at a unique overnight event on December 6 and 7 in Camarillo. At the third annual Hackathon by the Sea, students will team up to code projects such as games, apps and websites. No prior coding experience is necessary and the students will be guided by professional mentors. The event is free and includes meals, snacks and prizes. The Hackathon is a fun and engaging way to expose students to the world of computer coding and the many career opportunities available in the field.

The Hackathon is open to all Ventura County high school students. Laptop computers will be provided to participants who need them. The event is free, but space is filling up quickly, so interested students should register now at 


Volunteer Mentors Needed

A team of volunteer mentors is needed to provide support and guidance to the student participants. Technology professionals and college students are encouraged to apply to be mentors. More information about becoming a mentor is available here.
