Ventura County Schools Make Progress in Attendance, Graduation Rate, and Academic Performance

Ventura County schools are continuing to make improvements in attendance, graduation rates, academic performance, and other measures, according to new data from the 2025 California School Dashboard released today by the California Department of Education.

Highlights for Ventura County include:

  • GRADUATION RATE: Ventura County’s graduation rate of 90.5% for 2025 has improved by 7.2 percentage points since 2021 and is 3.0 percentage points better than the statewide rate.
     
  • CHRONIC ABSENTEEISM: Ventura County’s chronic absenteeism rate of 17.7% for 2025 marks the third consecutive year of improvement and is 1.7 percentage points better than the statewide rate.
     
  • SUSPENSION RATE: Ventura County’s suspension rate of 2.7% for 2025 is a 0.9% improvement from 2023 and is slightly better than the statewide rate
     
  • MATHEMATICS: Ventura County students’ performance in mathematics on the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) for 2025 is up by 4.0 percentage points since 2022, marking the third consecutive year of improvement.
     
  • ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS: Ventura County students’ performance in English language arts on the CAASPP test for 2025 is up by 2.6 percentage points since 2023, marking the second consecutive year of improvement.

“Over the past few years, Ventura County students have made consistent gains in the most important measures of success. They’re missing school less, graduating at higher rates, and improving their performance in English and math,” said Dr. César Morales, Ventura County Superintendent of Schools. “These results reflect the concerted efforts of the Ventura County Office of Education and dedicated educators throughout the county who are giving students the support and tools they need to thrive in school.”
