Substance Use Services (SUS)

CHPP provides prevention-focused outreach, training and technical assistance to increase awareness the risks of substance use and to reduce substance use among Ventura County youth. SUS efforts include school presentations, community events and staff trainings.

For the 2023-2024 schoo year, areas of focus will include:

  • Opioid and Fentanyl Awareness School and Community Events - School presentations are organized through district and site leaders. Community events are held in partnership with Ventura County Behavioral Health and many other community partners.
  • Drug Impairment Training for School Personnel (DITEP) Training - This training is conducted by the CA Highway Patrol to increase awareness of identified school staff to assess for signs of impairment and hence identify for support.
  • Student Assistance Programs (SAP) - SAPs provide an opportunity for school administrators to utilize an alternative to suspension in cases involving substance use and/or possession by students. It is also an opportunity for students to participate in educational programming that is designed to provide prevention and cessesation information.
