K-12 Strong Workforce Program

In summer 2018, the California legislature introduced the K12 Strong Workforce Program (K12 SWP) as an ongoing statewide funding opportunity. It is designed to support K–12 local education agencies (LEAs) in creating, improving, and expanding career technical education (CTE) courses, course sequences, programs of study, and pathways for students transitioning from secondary education to postsecondary education to living-wage employment. The VCOE Career Education Department works closely with our regional community colleges in support of program development and seamless transitions for the 44,000 high school students in districts throughout Ventura County

  • K12 SWP Site Visit begins in November 2022 and allows the SWP team to highlight CTE Programs funded by Rounds 2, 3, and 4. The SWP team visit CTE classrooms to gather quality information about how LEAs are executing the outcomes of the work plans with consideration to intersegmental partnerships in strengthening CTE courses, programs, and pathways aligned with regional workforce needs. K12 SWP Site Visits are instrumental in identifying how programs vary to best meet the community's needs and provide context when offering assistance to support LEAs in developing and implementing high-quality K–14 CTE course sequences, programs, and pathways.
