During the 2 years in the program, candidates are required to complete an Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) that follows the continuous improvement cycle of plan, teach, reflect, and apply. The first semester, your ILP focuses on establishing a goal for the year based on information you collect and learn about educator practice, your students, and school and/or district. In the second semester you will use your established goal to develop a focused inquiry question that you will carry out through two short inquiry cycles. Your inquiry cycles are guided by the plan, teach, reflect, and apply process. Throughout the 2 years in the program, you will have the guidance and support of your mentor and will use the CSTPs to set goals and guide your evidence of growth overtime.

The Ventura County Teacher Induction Program is a 2-year program (generally beginning in September and ending in June of each school year). We also offer an Early Completion Option (ECO) for eligible candidates that allows them to complete the program in one year. For more information re: ECO, please see the FAQ "What is the Early Completion Option (ECO) of the Induction Program?"

Eligibility Criteria
  • Teaching Experience: Have three (3) completed years of full-time teaching experience within the last five (5) years at an accredited institution, serving as the teacher of record.
    • Applicants should be entering their fourth year of teaching at the time of application.
