Healthy, Safe, and Supportive Schools (HS3) Committee

The Healthy, Safe, and Supportive Schools (HS3) Committee meets quarterly to combine efforts, resources and expertise to create and support safe, caring, respectful and drug-free learning environments, thereby increasing opportunities for academic success for students. Countywide school representatives on the committee address issues related to school connectedness, citizenship and character education, bullying, school culture and climates, crisis response, conflict resolution, peer mediation, alternatives to suspension and expulsion, violence reduction, suicide prevention and intervention and Education Code mandated prevention education (alcohol, tobacco, other drugs), in order to support and promote student health, well-being and academic achievement. The HS3 Committee's mission is to equip Ventura County youth to become efficacious advocates for positive personal, social, and community change towards a tobacco-free California.
