The Ventura County Office of Education, Teacher Support Services (TSS) office provides a wide range of services and programs to assist individuals seeking to become teachers, beginning teachers, veteran teachers and school site administrators. Programs providing these services include:

  • BTSA Induction Program (BTSA/IC)
  • University Intern Credential Program
  • Paraprofessional Teacher Training Program (PTTP)
  • Designated Subjects (Vocational and Adult Ed) Credential Program (DSC)
  • Bilingual Teacher Training Program (BTTP)
  • Personnel Assistance Management Teams (PMAT)
  • Verification Process for Special Settings (VPSS)
  • Supplemental Educational Services (SES)
  • National Board Network
  • Test Preparation Classes (for CBEST, CSET, CTEL and RICA exams)

The goal of Teacher Support Services is to establish an integrated system that supports the multiple entry points to the teaching profession in order to provide a skilled, credentialed teacher for every classroom in Ventura County.

Ventura County BTSA/IC Program
The Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment Induction Consortium (BTSA/IC) Program provides first- and second-year teachers with school-site support, professional development opportunities and recommendation for their clear credential. Experienced teachers receive training in the California Formative Assessment and Support System for Teachers (CFASST) to foster new teacher growth and professionalism.

Teacher Development Services (TDS)
Teacher Development Services provides professional development and assistance to teachers through the following programs:

  • Ventura County Intern Program - An alternative certification program,provides under-prepared teachers with the coursework and school-site support to become successful teachers.
  • National Board Network - A countywide support network offers National Board candidates information, ideas and strategies to successfully achieve certification.
  • Supplemental Educational Services (SES) - In coordinaton with the Paraprofessional Teacher Training Program (PTTP), program participants are employed to provide small group tutoring to "at risk" students and in return, receive  assistance toward earning a teaching credential.

Personnel Management Assistance Teams
Ventura COE is designated as the PMAT central location for the collection, organization, storage, and dissemination of information and resources to assist the PMAT regional centers in providing comprehensive personnel management assistant services. PMAT  provides technical assistance to school districts in establishing and maintaining effective personnel management, recruitment, selection, hiring, and retention practices.
