After celebrating Moorpark High School’s 100th anniversary, what do you do for an encore? In the Moorpark Unified School District, the answer is always “plenty.”

We had a wonderful 2018-19 school year celebrating 100 years since Moorpark High School was established. Our graduation rate and state assessment scores continued to exceed state and county averages and our students were awarded numerous academic and athletic scholarships.

Moorpark High School students’ scores exceeded both state and global passing rates in every single one of the 21 Advanced Placement courses offered. Our highly qualified AP teachers were recently honored at a school board meeting to celebrate this impressive achievement.

Moorpark Unified School District expanded the High School at Moorpark College from serving 11th and 12th graders to include 9th grade students this year. The HS@MC is an academically rigorous program that allows students to take both high school and college classes on the Moorpark College campus. This innovative program allows highly motivated students to earn a high school diploma while simultaneously earning an associate’s degree from Moorpark College.

Flory Academy of Sciences and Technology has become one of only eight elementary schools in California to incorporate the LEGO Education program into its curriculum. The new Flory LEGO STEM Lab is the centerpiece of this exciting transition where students as young as five years old learn to create and code robotics such as trains, windmills and a variety of other imaginative products.

A new color video matrix scoreboard and state-of-the-art lighting at Moorpark High School stadium has enhanced MUSD’s reputation as housing the premier high school stadium in the county.

But it’s not only sports facilities and academics that set us apart. Moorpark Unified School District takes great pride in our outstanding arts programs. Moorpark High School was recently awarded and recognized as a California “Exemplary Arts” School for their outstanding performing arts program - one of just 17 California high schools over the last three years! Since then, Moorpark High has been invited to perform at the California Department of Education’s California Distinguished Schools’ celebration where audiences of nearly 5,000 people have enjoyed our students’ performances.

Additionally, Moorpark Unified School District offers multiple career technical education pathways to prepare students for college and careers. Pathways include health science, engineering, manufacturing, hospitality, business, performing arts, stagecraft and more! We continue to expand these opportunities to reflect student interests in high demand, high wage technical careers.

Wonder what Moorpark Unified School District will do for an encore next year? Stay tuned.
